Contemporary Investigation and Management: Colorectal Cancer Series – Signs & Symptoms

Each year, in the UK, 330,000 new cases of colon cancer are diagnosed and colon cancer remains the most common cause of non-smoking related cancer deaths.

Mr Jonathan Wilson, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon begins his mini series on colorectal cancer by talking us through the Department of Health ‘Be Clear on Cancer’ campaign; and the signs and symptoms we should look out for. Read Raising Awareness.

Each month Mr Wilson’s series will look at case presentations, covering advances in investigation and management of colorectal cancer.

Jonathan Wilson, is a consultant colorectal and general laproscopic surgeon at the Whittington Hospital, Highgate Hospital, and The Wellington Hospital, St John’s Wood. He offers management of suspected colorectal cancer, benign colorectal and anal conditions (polyps; diverticular disease; Inflammatory Bowel Disease [crohn’s and ulcerative colitis]; contemporary daycase haemorrhoidectomy [stapled and HALO techniques]; anal fissure and fistula; rectal prolapse), and general surgical conditions such as hernias and gall stones. He is also a nationally accredited colonoscopist.
